spinning, knitting, other goodies

Hi!

It's been a while...... okay, so I'm not a good blog hostess! whoops! I've been busy! I started a new job a couple of weeks ago. I now work at a small regional hospital, here in town, three nights a week. it's so nice! It's nice to meet the different people from town staff and patients. The unit I work on is small--16 beds small, but alot goes on..... people come in because of chest pain, one guy came in because he got into a fight over someone wanting to flush his ball cap down the toilet (his fist met the other guys mouth), it's unbelieveable some of the things you see. Oh and I worked the finish line tent at the Boston Marathon! That was incredible! What an experience--not only being a runner but being a nurse and being able to help out a fellow runner in such a capacity was incredulous!

Now to the knitting! Well, I still got the Wallaby going on.... slow progress with that..... working on the 2nd sleeve...... just not into knitting with acrylics... not that I'm a yarn snob but it just ain't the same!....... I got a pair of sandals going too..... yes, you read right sandals....... cascade fixation and green mountain spinnery cotton both in shades of khaki with leather soles....... I got the pattern from Classic Yarns of Grafton (508-839-0053). and I got a pair of socks being worked on in tofutsies........ that's 'bout all.... Oh yeah! see that brown stuff at the bottom of the pic.... that's my 1st attempt at spinning! some brown Romney wool....not bad for a rookie...... now, I have some rainbow wool that I have been spinning with that I got last year at the NH S&W (I missed the festival last week BAA Wah! BAA Wah!!) It'll be a while before I get really good, but at least I realized a long time dream.

You were at the finish line at the marathon? Imagine, I live SO close to that, and I avoid it every year. Glad to know that there are responsible knitters looking over things.
Congrats on the new job, too. Sounds like a fun little place.

So, here is the start of my Bejeweled scarf. I'm kind of on a deadline, trying to finish it for a lunch meeting Wednesday afternoon with a good friend. Hopefully, I can getting it done. I started it yesterday during the Patriots/ Jets game and during all my cleaning frenzy.

This cardi is coming out nicely, if I can say so myself. They use a bright, almost kelly green yarn in the mag issue, the color of the Debbie Bliss yarn I have is like a pumpkin color. I really like it! The pattern itself is easy to memorize.

FUN STUFF!

Just for kicks and giggles
