I've been bad!

Oh my gosh! It's been 6 weeks......... but, it's been crazy here....First, I am taking two classes toward my Masters'.. Just when I thought they could throw anymore nursing theory at me here's another class. The professor's cool......... the class hmm...typical format.... oh well, it's almost done now.... the other class family nursing theory...... has been interesting...... pretty cool. Oh and I got a new job..... I'm gonna be an ER nurse...... finally, after 10 years of having to suck some things up.... I get a break. Yippee!!! I really am excited! And I am co-coordinating (at least I think I am) the freezer-five road race that happens nearby on New Years' Day www.cmsrun.org. Busy, huh??? I can exhaust you further but, no need!

Knitting wise...still got the City cardi (Fall knitscene) going, got the charade socks going.... In between I knitted a london beanie for one of my boys and a shrug from knit daily in arrgghhhhh!!!! crochet done.....

I also got a new spinning wheel..... it's real pretty.......... came from Holland. It was easy to put together..... It's been a bit tempermental though to spin with.... But, it's settling.

Hmm...have you all ever had spaghetti pie??? I made some last week....and let me tell you.. yum....yumm!

here's the link......real food for real people

so, I think that's enough for now....... I gotta go clean the house and get to work on my nursing concept project.... I think I'll up load it after I am done.... so you all can see my level of intelligence......tee hee!!! buh-bye!

It's 90 degrees and..............

Hey!

I've done something completely. oh I don't know........... crazy???? How about I'll let you fill in the blank (_______________________). I hope that was enough room. Well, I have decided to go back for my Masters'. I am taking two courses this semester Family Nursing Theory and Nursing Theory. This is on top of working 36 hours per week, managing the lives of the 5 remaining children (the other two are on their own), trying to have a life w/ the bf, running and of course knitting/ spinning. ARRGGHHHH!

WIP's......... Charade socks being knit of Brown Sheep sock yarn..... and a london beanie w/ some worsted super wash.

FO's......... I spun some peachy/ amber colored wool and designed a dog sweater for my Dutchie.......... It came out pretty good! When it gets cooler (and not 90 degrees in late September) I will post some pics.

Anyway, I guess that's about all.......... Oh I went to the VT. S&W. It was fun took a workshop on adding novelty stuff in with fiber while spinning. I realized I got a long way to go spinning wise before I can be consistent, but I'm getting there.

new name

Hello!

I've changed the name of this blog to "knitterrunnrgirl's blog". I think it sounds better...... certainly not as blah! Anyway I came up with the idea after I signed up to participate in www.ravelry.com. The website, hosted by frecklegirl is really cool! I got my info regarding my "secret pal" for the fiber frenzy swap!!!!!! I'm psyched, it sounds like fun.... I'm gonna start shopping for my package to send this week.

WIP's...well, a pair of fingerless gloves (www.interweave.com) Nicholas' fingerless gloves to be exact.... is in the works for my B.F., and I am finishing up on the Wonderful Wallaby in (not so crazy about it but it holds up to an active 10-year-old) Bernat Camouflage acrylic yarn.... and a pair of jaywalkers (pattern my grumperina) in some superwash wool.

I finished the mismatched (bad.....tofutsies I guess) thanks to pooling of the dye, I am told by SWTC's rep..... waffle stitch socks....What a disappointment those are...but I'll wear them I suppose....under my work uniform.

WEll, I guess that's about all... it is so humid and hot here..... I don't feel like doing much. ttfn

new name for blog????

Help...I need a new name for this blog...I think this one--well is dumb! so, I want to enlist your help.... I'm talking input......Let's see.....I have 7 kids, I work as a nurse, I knit, I spin I run... I got a dog, a cat.... can anyone think of something more fun, more fitting than what I did????? (Good God I hope so)!

Anyway, WIP..... Those damned socks in Tofutsies, mismatched blunders... I'm actually in a email conversation with the CEO over there at SWTC as to what to do about it. She called it pooling of the yarn...."some people like it, some don't" I fall into the latter group! She seems very nice..... So, we'll see if there's a resolution... I will post a pic for you all to see.

I'm also working on a wide brim hat knit out of Cascade Fixation.... the pattern is from Cynthia Walker.... Its really a cute hat!!! Otherwise I got nothing going on in the knitting world. Spinning I'm working on some peachy-colored (feels like) Romney wool. It is lucious! I'm really enjoying it....My spinning is beginning to smooth out now, not as nubby as it used to be.... I kind of miss the nubs.

And, as for the looking for the Home to Rent thing...well that goes on...kind of hard to find one....with pets.....not giving them up though.....I really think homeowners have misconceptions though, I think kids are more dangerous to a homes wellbeing than pets are... but whatever.

well, thanks all for reading my incessant babbling!

Have a marvey day!!!!!

a new partnership in the works???

Hey all!!!

How's it going??? We finally got some nice weather here in N.E!!!! It's so bright and sunny, the birds are singing.....we're all a bustling...... going about our business!!!! What'chall been up to?????

Well, I started a new knitting project....the Madeline Jacket by White Lies Designs..... It's based on the PI Jacket...... It's made out of this Scrumptious 100% cotton yarn that she also distributes....... so far it's easy but I'm on the back.... I will post some pics over the weekend. and I also, got the new...long awaited "Knitting Lingerie Style"...has anyone seen it? Lots of nice designs.....most are practical, too...... pretty...... she did a real nice job..... Cascade fixation really made out well too!

Anyway, another new change is coming up in our lives.... my BF and I have decided to look for a house to rent around here. We're basically tired of living paycheck to paycheck. Gets a little redundant. The economy is really bad right now..... Well, I guess I don't need to tell you, unless you're independently wealthy.

And, another event to celebrate---my now 18-year-old daughter---the leukemia survivor is graduating high school next week!! 3 down 4 to go! She plans on going to college---criminal justice is the latest! You go girl!

Anyway, thats 'bout all!! Hey, check out Daves' blog @ www.cabincove.com...He has the greatest kitty Miss Lulu.... If I didn't have a kitty that didn't think it was human as well...... I would think she was strange. Buh Bye!

spinning, knitting, other goodies

Hi!

It's been a while...... okay, so I'm not a good blog hostess! whoops! I've been busy! I started a new job a couple of weeks ago. I now work at a small regional hospital, here in town, three nights a week. it's so nice! It's nice to meet the different people from town staff and patients. The unit I work on is small--16 beds small, but alot goes on..... people come in because of chest pain, one guy came in because he got into a fight over someone wanting to flush his ball cap down the toilet (his fist met the other guys mouth), it's unbelieveable some of the things you see. Oh and I worked the finish line tent at the Boston Marathon! That was incredible! What an experience--not only being a runner but being a nurse and being able to help out a fellow runner in such a capacity was incredulous!

Now to the knitting! Well, I still got the Wallaby going on.... slow progress with that..... working on the 2nd sleeve...... just not into knitting with acrylics... not that I'm a yarn snob but it just ain't the same!....... I got a pair of sandals going too..... yes, you read right sandals....... cascade fixation and green mountain spinnery cotton both in shades of khaki with leather soles....... I got the pattern from Classic Yarns of Grafton (508-839-0053). and I got a pair of socks being worked on in tofutsies........ that's 'bout all.... Oh yeah! see that brown stuff at the bottom of the pic.... that's my 1st attempt at spinning! some brown Romney wool....not bad for a rookie...... now, I have some rainbow wool that I have been spinning with that I got last year at the NH S&W (I missed the festival last week BAA Wah! BAA Wah!!) It'll be a while before I get really good, but at least I realized a long time dream.

Spring?

Hi There! Well, Right Now it is 28 degrees out....This is Spring in New England. I have 3 children home from school with Strep Throat....Yee haa! Well....that allows me to get some knitting and spinning done. I took some spinning lessons, a few weeks ago and it went well....... I can drive I mean spin now. Thanks to Dave @cabin cove for the link I found the teacher. I ended up spinning about 4 ounces of some Brown Romney from one of her sheep. Very cool! I am still working on the Wallaby for my son and a pair of socks for myself out of Tofusies and I am trying to do up some felted bookmarks for my coworkers who I will be leaving this Friday. I have decided to go back to my roots and be a unit nurse in a hospital again.

Ewwww it's sooooo cold!!!!!

Hi!!!

It is sooo cold out!!! The temp really took a nosedive yesterday! Oh well, Welcome to March madness! I really can't wait for the more stable wether to get here. I didn't mention in my previous blog, but I have two events to train for now, with probably a few more sprinkled in between. Mt BF and I are officially registered for the Vermont City Marathon on May 27,2007 and once again Jay Mountain Challenge in July. We just absolutely love that race. Last year was the first time we entered and we had a blast! we were in mud up to our knees, we waded through brooks, we went up the mountain on trails and the food at the end was fantastic! The B&B we stayed @ was the English Rose Inn. On What fun!

More Cool Stuff!

Hey!!!
Well, it's been a couple of weeks but, I've been busy as I am sure you have.......... in that time.... I have....welcomed my boyfriend back from A.T., finished off 2 London Beanies, a Hot Head from S 'n' B, a pair of socks, the 3 hour sweater from the 1930's (that actually took 5 hours but who was counting). Did my tax returns....... got flustered over one form sent to me by my former mortgage company. found out the answer about that one form........ sent in my tax returns......... started research and purchasing a spinning wheel (something I've always wanted). and purchased a new living room set (oh my!, the kiddos are in for a shock with the new furniture comes new rules!) and got a new wrought iron bed off ebay for myself (when we moved I left my old head board that I have had for 20+ years and from my former marriage behind). yee hah!!! or as my BF would say hoo ah!

Anyway, the spinning wheel I got was the Kromski's Prelude. Dave at Cabin Cove Mercantile gave me some awesome advice about what to look for and where to go. I purchased it at the Coppermoose in Vermont. I am hoping to have it by the end of the week. Now as long as the little gremlin like in the fairy tale from Rapunzel does not appear I will be all set. I'll be happy with wool and other natural fibers.

Lets see what am I working on now (WIP's). Hmmm. got some potholders going in Sugar in Cream, the Felted military belt from "Knitting with Balls" (neat book btw), still have the Wallaby standing by and the Central Park Hoodie which I pick up every night and work a couple of rows.

Oh and lastly, for my birthday next week.......... I went and got myself my annual tattoo.......... I now have one of my favorite pets (well they're all my favorites (except for the lizards) but, I have Blacky our 12 year-old tuxedo cat forever immortalized on my upper left arm and shes playing with......... you guessed it............ a ball of yarn!!!!! I will post a pic............

FO's update

Hi!

Welcome Back! I should be saying that to myself, as well. It's been busy, sort of. Well, my BF is back from AT. It was such a wonderful sight seeing him at the airport! I was so overcome with joy, I was nearly speechless. We headed home but stopped at Paparazzi's in Cranston, RI first. I had a yummy Risotto dish with chicken and cranberries. Scott had a spinach and cheese stuffed ravioli. We split a half bottle of Cavet Pinot Grigio. That was a really nice crisp white wine. Then we headed home. It was really nice having him around again! It still is nice! :>) Anyway, I got some FO's to report.... I made a London Beanie for the 15 y.o........, a pair of mocassin socks from EZ, and a beanie for the 10 year old. I got started on a wallaby for the 10 year old and another pair of socks for the BF. I will post some pics soon.

Wonderful Weekend?

Hi! Well, I haven't blogged in a couple of weeks, been a little busy. Productive though, I finished a pair of EZ's mocassin socks for dear BF to take w/ him to Washington state for his 17 days of AT w/ the Army National Guard. I really can't go into what I am thinking/feeling right now about this whole ANG thing, but it's really not a positive thing. Yeah, I am grateful that these guys and gals are defending our country but, some ding-a-ling went and not only scheduled this unit for 17 days of AT but also for a weekend which was THIS weekend, so families don't get to spend time with their 'soldiers' before they ship out. Nice, huh? I wonder when they;ll be deployed again? They've already done 1 year in Iraq. Anyway, enough about that. So, this is suppose to be about knitting..... WIP's....... Hmm... still got the Central Park Hoodie going............ and now The Wallaby in some Bernat acrylic for my 10 year old son......... he's a little rough on sweaters......... I finished a beanie for him in some Paton's Classic Wool for him the other day, it's really cute. Well........ I guess I will get ready for a run... maybe that will change this melancholy mood I am in........ I've been crying on and off all night, can't figure out why....... Have a great day!

Sunday, Sunday!!!!!

Hi!!!! Nice, Quiet Sunday here.... well, almost....... got the former crack kitty in heat........... for the past week!! will be glad when Wednesday gets here and she goes in for her little snip and becomes an IT! Poor Mindy!! (I think she'll probably actually be a happy kitty). I don't know if I mentioned how I got Miss Mindy... but I work for a community outreach program, as an RN, for persons afflicted with chronic and persistent mental illness. They're pretty incapacitated people, the majority don't work and are reliant upon Social Security as their means of income. Anyhow, one of the clients became involved with the wrong people, even more destitute than he, and became a crack addict........... he had some pretty intense health issues as well that became pretty compromised as a result of his addiction........ We tried everything in order to get him to clean up to no avail..... finally we had to place him in a rest home and I got the kitty (she pictured in the blog with some of my WIP's).... She's really very sweet, hid for a month under my bed when I first brought her home. poor little thing...... the client never had her fixed........... she is going out of her mind and driving us out of ours! But, that all changes Wednesday....... So....... Hey, I actually got one of my projects finished today. the Bejeweled Scarf.(Dutchie, our Min-Pin is modeling it)..... I really liked working on it............. if I can say so myself came out quite nicely. See below....... Oh, and hmmm...... I tried the little trick of boiling a sweater in vinegar to reverse the felting process...... I read about it in the Winter issue of Knit 1........... I had knit a Icelandic sweater out of Cashmerino (Debbie Bliss) and one of my little darlings washed and dried it............. could've killed them............. anyway, it is now drying on a towel.... flat............ seems to have worked.......... we'll see.......... the other option was the hair conditioner............ which I can always try next.

As for my running.. Hmmmm ran 2.5 miles yesterday. felt pretty good. no asthma related problems.. Called the pulmo-doc the other day and asked for a different steroid inhaler....... the new one seems to be working (could be placebo effect, who knows). I see him Wednesday. I also got a new exercise program to go with the Pilates and the Tae-Bo.......... Yoga, Booty, Ballet...... It's actually quite fun.......... I did the Hip-Hop Abs workout this morning and found myself sweating profusely. It really kept me busy enough that my ADHD was entertained as well.

Oh well, that's about all...... started my other sock which I will work on while watching the Pats/Chargers game............. Only other thing going through my head is I am thinking of buying a spinning wheel..... anyone got any ideas which to get?

Glorious Monday!!! :>)

Glorious Monday! Hmm..... Well, I'm home from work today. Not exactly by choice. My 17-year-old daughter, got into a car accident this morning. Rear-ended someone on her way to school not even a mile away from home. Roads were wet, it was just beginning to get light out, you know all the conditions ripe for an inexperienced driver, to become victim to. Noone was hurt, fortunately. "I'm so dead, Mom! My father is going to kill Me!" (Dad and I are divorced d/t substance abuse and other issues I need not get into. let's just say it took me 17 years to figure out I had a voice and a right to be a person and not a belonging). Anyway, my reply to DD, "Nah, Cancer didn't get you, Daddy won't either!". Apryl's a leukemia survivor, diagnosed at the age of 7 in 1997. Anyway, she was so shaken I called into work. So, here I am..... blogging, and knitting and blogging...but it gave me the prime opp to take the pics and upload them for my WIP's. See below.

Day Number 4

Hi! Wel, it's day number 4 on Prednisone... for those that have been on it, I'm sure you can emphathize with me. For those that haven't, hmmm.... yes, it's a wonder drug, and can quickly aid and reduce inflammation and discomfort in many diseases and disorders such as asthma (my case), IBS, arthritis and numerous others.... but, the side effects are little to be desired. The bloating, the mood swings, the "super woman/man syndrome". If taken chronically paper-thin skin and the moon face result along with fatty deposits particularly in the hips and tummy. Well, what I am going to talk about is the superwoman syndrome... I got up at 7 am this morning and have not stopped.... I started with cleaning my BF's bathroom floor (on my hands and knees, BTW) then I went home and....... started tearing my place apart... laundry, dishes, made banana bread, vacuumed out my PT Cruiser, put the seats back in my PT, swept the kitchen, BR, LR , den, hall and the boys BR.... washed the kitchen, den, LR and BR floor. I cleaned the tub and the porcelain throne....... and the basin.....I took out the trash...... I played outside with the dog..... I helped the cat "Blacky" out from under the porch.... then had to help her out from under it again.... (I think I blocked up the holes)... I made Mac and cheese for dinner (from scratch). I cleaned out the fridge....... Hmmmmm...... Oh, in between I sat and started on the Bejeweled scarf, I found in my stash some Sublime mohair handdyed..... looks pretty cool.

Well, last evening I managed to test out my lungs...went for a 2.5 mile run with my BF.... didn't want to go alone just in case of trouble..... did ok.... had to do a couple of walk breaks....... but overall was pleased...... the weather was so nice, high 50's wore shorts and a bright orange sleeveless top. Who would've thought that in January? Then we went back popped in a Freschetta pizza ( the new one multigrain wheat crust) and watched Murderball DVD. I finished up sock #1 of the K2P2 using 2 circulars...... I like that method and am looking forward to starting the 2nd.

Well, it's back to work tomorrow, maybe I'll get to relax!

my 2nd attempt at my 1st post!

Ok, so I lost my first post........ I got this far...which I find amazing! Anyway welcome to my blog. I hope you will find it entertaining and knowledge base rich (I guess it all depends on what you're looking for). Hmm, if you're into knitting, good-- if you're into running good! if you're into both! allright!! Just plain breathing is a bonus activity! I say that not too lightly today. I humbly called the pulmologist and begged for some Pred and a z-pack today..... Asthma exacerbation. I went for a run on Sunday...felt pretty good, too! Should have known, now I'm grounded! Oh well! I'm gonna go out tomorrow though (tee hee! Pred makes my breathing really good while running!). So, I will do some peaceful and meaningful Pilates tonight. and then I will Knit. I got two projects going right now......... some socks, my first project using two circular needles... have to say I like the method... no gaps... looks uniform and I got a cardi going from the fall '06 issue of Knitscene. Making that out of Debbie Bliss Aran Tweed.... it's got some cable action going on. the socks are out of this German yarn that has jojoba and aloe in it.... absolutely yummy! I will post some pics over the weekend.

So, here is the start of my Bejeweled scarf. I'm kind of on a deadline, trying to finish it for a lunch meeting Wednesday afternoon with a good friend. Hopefully, I can getting it done. I started it yesterday during the Patriots/ Jets game and during all my cleaning frenzy.

The yarn I am using to make these socks is sooooo yummy!!!! feels great on the hands.... it's from Germany... it's got jojoba and aloe in it...... can't wait to finish them so that my feet can be treated as well!

This I am just poking around with in Classic Wool by Patons. it's for my 10 year old son. With this El Nino pattern of weather I wo der if he'll need it?

Cardi from Fall Knitscene in progress

This cardi is coming out nicely, if I can say so myself. They use a bright, almost kelly green yarn in the mag issue, the color of the Debbie Bliss yarn I have is like a pumpkin color. I really like it! The pattern itself is easy to memorize.

FUN STUFF!

Just for kicks and giggles
